REVIEW USMeet Michael A Parentis, MD
Dr. Michael Andrew Parentis is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon and the founder of Buffalo Orthopedics, PC. He has dedicated over three decades to musculoskeletal care, specializing in orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine, and reconstructive procedures of the knee, shoulder, foot, and ankle.
Dr. Parentis is a Buffalo, NY native who began his academic journey at Yale University, where he earned his undergraduate degree and distinguished himself as an All-American lacrosse player. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Following medical school, he completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (Pennsylvania State University), and pursued advanced fellowship training in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, as well as foot and ankle surgery in Baltimore.
In clinical practice, Dr. Parentis emphasizes personalized, patient-centered care, with a focus on thorough evaluation, clear communication, and evidence-based treatment planning. While skilled in the full spectrum of orthopaedic procedures, he strives to explore conservative management options before recommending surgery. He maintains active hospital affiliations across the Buffalo region and is widely recognized for both his surgical expertise and his thoughtful approach to patient care.
Outside of orthopaedics, Dr. Parentis remains engaged with athletics; he has coached lacrosse, continues his involvement in sports medicine through collegiate team physician roles, and was inducted into the Western New York Lacrosse Hall of Fame on February 7th, 2026.
